After receiving press coverage from the likes of The Sun, FACT Mag, Mix Mag and Grime Daily, Rewind 4Ever was released in the summer of 2013 on digital platforms iTunes, Google Play and Tesco’s Blink Box.
Due to the buzz that was created from the documentary’s initial online release, it wasn’t long before the TV channels came calling and in November 2013 Rewind was broadcast three times on The Community Channel (Sky 539, Virgin Media TV 233) as part of the channel’s ‘Brilliant Britain’ season.
The TV premiere saw the documentary receive critical acclaim from the UK music press and also across social media…
Rewind 4Ever’s success was not only limited to the UK, with screenings and club nights taking place in Dublin, Stockholm, Washington DC (Forward DC Festival) and a showing at the biggest dance music festival in the world, the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE 2014).
With the film now in worldwide demand, Rewind’s impact and influence was going from strength to strength. Sound bites from the film were featured on Jamie xx’s debut studio album, ‘In Colour’ (2015), which went on to be nominated for the 2015 Mercury Prize, British Album of the Year at the 2016 Brit Awards and Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 58th Grammy Awards.
“Not just for the Garage raver, I believe Rewind 4Ever will be of great interest to fans across the full scope of electronic music, an ever important historical piece that sets the scene for what’s happening in today’s UK urban and dance music industries.”
